Our Faculty Member’s Project Submitted to TÜBİTAK “POLAR 1001” 2021 Call Is Granted Support
Results of the scientific evaluation of projects submitted to TÜBİTAK “POLAR 1001” 2021 call were announced. Our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğur Algancı’s project proposed within the framework of “POLAR 1001” is granted support.

Scientific evaluation of the projects submitted to “POLAR 1001” 2021 Call opened by Research Funding Programs Directorate (ARDEB) under the conditions determined by TÜBİTAK MAM Polar Research Institute (KARE) was completed.
Faculty of Civil Engineering, Department of Geomatics Engineering faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğur Algancı’s project titled “Satellite-Derived Bathymetry Modeling for Shallow Waters: A Study on Horseshoe Island” submitted within the framework of TÜBİTAK 1001 Polar Special Call is granted support.
20 of the 23 project proposals submitted to the call were subjected to scientific evaluation and as a result of the evaluation, it was decided to support 9 projects.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğur Algancı
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğur Algancı, received his undergraduate, master’s and Ph.D. degrees from ITU Geomatics Engineering program. During his Ph.D. studies, he received a TÜBİTAK scholarship and worked as an honorary researcher at University of Wisconsin – Madison (WI, USA) for eight months. Between 2009-2013, he served as a research assistant at ITU Informatics Institute – Applied Informatics Department; between 2013-2015, he worked as a consultant engineer in ITU Application and Research Center for Satellite Communications and Remote Sensing (CSCRS). Since 2016, Uğur Algancı has been working as an assistant professor at ITU Department of Geomatics Engineering and in 2019 he has been appointed associate professor. He participated in eight national projects as researcher and consultant. He has a total of 30 international articles and 30 international conference papers, and he has served as reviewer in various prestigious journals and member of the editorial board of two national journals.
