6 ITU Scientists Receive TÜBA Awards
"TÜBA Awards" consisting of the TÜBA Young Scientist Award Programme (TÜBA-GEBİP) and TÜBA with University Textbooks Award Programme (TÜBA-TESEP), organized under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, have been announced. Six scientists from ITU were deemed worthy of the Turkish Academy of Sciences 2021 Outstanding Young Scientist Award.

The TÜBA Awards, consisting of the TÜBA International Academy Awards, the TÜBA-GEBİP Award (TÜBA Young Scientist Award Programme), and the TÜBA-TESEP Award (TÜBA with University Textbooks Award Programme), conducted under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, found their owners.
Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Science and Letters, Department of Physics Engineering faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özkan was awarded in the field of natural sciences whereas Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering Department faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tufan Kumbasar, Faculty of Chemical Metallurgical Engineering, Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohammedreza Nofar, Faculty of Chemical Metallurgical Engineering, Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duygu Ağaoğulları, Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design, Department of Textile Engineering faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meltem Yanılmaz and Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering faculty member Asst. Prof. Dr. Onur Ergen were awarded in the field of engineering.
TÜBA-GEBİP Award has been given since 2001 to outstanding young scientists working in the fields of nature, engineering, health sciences and social sciences to continue their scientific studies in Turkey, to form their own working groups, and to reward and encourage internationally qualified projects and publications originating from Turkey. The awards will be presented by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to their owners at the TÜBA-TÜBİTAK Science Awards Ceremony to be held at the Presidential Complex on December 28, 2021.
