Academics and Business World Come Together for Artificial Intelligence

The “Harbinger of Change: Artificial Intelligence” event was held by the Turkey’s Artificial Intelligence Platform (AITR), established under the leadership of the Istanbul Technical University and the Turkey Informatics Foundation with the participation of industry stakeholders.

The keynote speaker of the event, the University of Chicago Department of Economics faculty member Prof. Dr. Ufuk Akçiğit, said that it is very important to process and use data correctly for countries to determine policies and companies to determine strategies. Akçiğit underlined that to conduct quality research, it is necessary to understand people rather than companies.

Turkey’s Artificial Intelligence Platform (AITR), established under the leadership of the Turkey Informatics Foundation (TBV) and Istanbul Technical University, brought together industry stakeholders in its first event titled " Harbinger of Change: Artificial Intelligence" held at ITU Maçka Campus. Turkey’s Artificial Intelligence Platform aims to create a national and international ecosystem network for artificial intelligence technology through public, private sector, and academia collaborations.

TBV Chairman Faruk Eczacıbaşı, ITU Dean of Research Prof. Dr. Altan Çakır, and TÜBİSAD Chairman of the Board Levent Kızıltan delivered the opening speeches at the event, where the University of Chicago Department of Economics faculty member and owner of the "Arnold C. Harberger" chair Dr. Ufuk Akçiğit was the keynote speaker.

In his speech, ITU Dean of Research Prof. Dr. Altan Çakır listed the topics that should be emphasized on artificial intelligence as the basic nature of the problem and the correct use of data, manpower, regulations, and democratization of artificial intelligence.
