First Prize to ITU from Green Dot Student Awards

Our university team was awarded the first prize in the category of "Prevention Practices in Packaging" at the Green Dot Student Awards organized by the ÇEVKO Foundation.

ÇEVKO Environmental Protection and Packaging Waste Recovery and Recycling Foundation expanded the scope of the Green Dot Awards with the Green Dot Student Awards in 2021, in which it celebrated its 30th anniversary. At the ceremony held online on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, the Green Dot Press Awards, as well as the Green Dot Student Awards, given for the first time this year, were given to their owners.

In the award, where the application and evaluation process was carried out on the website, the jury made a two-stage evaluation. In the first evaluation, all applications were evaluated through the application file and the finalists were determined. For the second evaluation, the finalists were asked to make a presentation.

Our university’s Department of Interior Architecture student Beyza Nur Eraslan and Industrial Design student Feyza Başak won the first prize in the category of “Prevention Practices in Packaging” with their DIY New Year Decorations project, which consists of design ideas that will transform the surfaces of boxes into ornaments in order to prevent packaging waste with the ornaments purchased during the New Year's period and to ensure the recycling of the packaging.

The president of the jury of ÇEVKO Foundation Green Dot Student Awards was Procter & Gamble Turkey, Caucasus and Central Asia Media Director Nesli Kılıçal, who was the Sustainability Corporate Communication Industry Representative in the jury.
