“Innovative Healthcare Professional of the Year Award” to Our Faculty Member
In 5. Doktorclub Awards Turkey’s Healthcare Awards ceremony, our faculty member Prof. Dr. Hatice Camgöz Akdağ won an award in “Innovative Healthcare Professional of the Year” category.

Turkey’s Healthcare Awards, organized by Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Okan University Faculty of Medicine and Doktorclub Awards in order to contribute to the increase of innovative and creative projects, research and applications that stand out by creating difference and awareness in the health sector in our country, was held online on December 29, 2021. At the ceremony where the healthcare professionals of 2021 were awarded, the names selected from 122 applications and 70 finalists won awards in a total of 22 categories.
Istanbul Technical University Department of Management Engineering faculty member Prof. Dr. Hatice Camgöz Akdağ was deemed worthy of the “Innovative Healthcare Professional of The Year Award” with her study “Lean hospital system design for improving processes in the health sector, reducing waste and increasing patient, physician and employee satisfaction”.

About Prof. Dr. Hatice Camgöz Akdağ
She received her undergraduate degree from Boğaziçi University, Department of Management in 1997, and her master’s degree from Eastern Mediterranean University in 1999. She completed her PhD in the field of “Quality Management” in the Faculty of Engineering at Brunel University in 2004. After working at various universities, she started to work as a faculty member at ITU Faculty of Management in 2012. She was appointed associate professor in 2015 and full professor in 2020. She has been serving as the Head of the Department of Management Engineering since September 2020. She also served as Advisor to the Rector, Quality Coordinator and Head of ITU Career Center at ITU. She works on sustainable projects that will increase quality in the field of health and facilitate patient, doctor and hospital experiences. Since 2008, she has focused on the field of health and has made a great effort to regulate the breast cancer processes, and to establish the same standard of diagnosis, treatment and follow-up processes for everyone. After being diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago, she was happy to be a “survivor” by overcoming this disease, and thus she had the chance to add a different perspective to her academic studies. She is married and mother of two daughters.
