Gender Equality Plan on March 8 International Women’s Day
Istanbul Technical University (ITU) published the Gender Equality Plan within the scope of March 8, International Women’s Day. The report prepared with the participation of all ITU units and stakeholders emphasizes raising awareness on gender equality.

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) published the Gender Equality Plan within the scope of March 8, International Women’s Day. The plan prepared jointly by Women’s Studies Center in Science, Engineering, and Technology, EELISA European University Project Team and the Sustainability Office aims to raise awareness on gender equality with the participation of all ITU units and stakeholders.
In the report, it was expressed that significant progress has been made in gender equality over time, but there is still a long way to go both in the world and in Turkey. It was emphasized that one of the most important steps to be taken is to make the institutional legislation appropriate. Based on this, Istanbul Technical University (ITU), aiming to raise awareness on the integration of the gender equality perspective, presented the Gender Equality Plan to the public on March 8, International Women’s Day.
In the prepared plan, in order to empower and develop women in education and research, topics such as recruitment, selection, and career progression support; combatting sexual harassment and discrimination; integration of the gender dimension into research and teaching content; and organizational culture were elaborated. Short, medium and long-term projections were presented under the aforementioned titles.
The Gender Equality Plan, which was shared with the public on March 8, International Women’s Day, aims to see the results of the efforts made to achieve equality.
