70th Birthday Gift for Prof. Dr. Yusuf Yağcı from Polymer Chemistry Journal
Polymer Chemistry journal’s March issue presented a themed collection in honor of ITU Faculty of Arts and Sciences Department of Chemistry faculty member Prof. Dr. Yusuf Yağcı and celebrated his 70th birthday for his contributions to the field of polymer chemistry.

The March issue of Polymer Chemistry journal, published by the prestigious and well-established London-based Royal Society of Chemistry, celebrated the 70th birthday of ITU Faculty of Arts and Sciences Department of Chemistry faculty member Prof. Dr. Yusuf Yağcı.
The journal honored Prof. Dr. Yusuf Yağcı for his influential studies and contributions to polymer chemistry with a themed collection on synthetic methodologies for complex macromolecular structures.
The themed collection of Polymer Chemistry journal was created with the articles and contributions of more than 25 scientists, including Yağcı’s friends and researchers in the polymer synthesis community, who have worked with him throughout his career.
As the ITU Family, we celebrate our faculty member’s 70th birthday.
About Yusuf Yağcı
He was born in Bursa in 1952. He completed his master’s and Ph.D. at Liverpool University. He became an associate professor and full professor at ITU. Yağcı is an honorary member of the Turkish Chemical Society and he received the TÜBİTAK Science Award in 1994. He also received Turkish Chemical Society Honorary Member Award (2002), Elsevier Scopus Award (2007), the Society of Polymer Science, Japan International Science Award (2008), Elginkan Foundation Technology Award (2008), Science and Technology Council (COMSTECH) 2010 Chemistry Honorary Award and 2013 METU Mustafa Parlar Education and Research Foundation Science, Service and Honor Award. He has authored more than 700 international scientific articles, 15 patents, 6 international books, and 50 book chapters. He has supervised 118 theses. He is currently a faculty member at ITU.
