Istanbul Technical University (ITU) continues its intensive R&D activities. Prof. Dr. İlker Murat Koç and his team; Prof. Dr. İbrahim Akduman and his team; Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Kızıl and his team; Prof. Dr. Şerife Birgül Ersolmaz and her team; Prof. Dr. İbrahim Altunbaş and his team; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Altun and his team; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onur Ferhanoğlu and his team; Assoc. Prof. Mesut Kırca and his team; Asst. Prof. Dr. Gözde Göncü Berk and her team received patent registration from various countries around the world.
Prof. Dr. İlker Murat Koç gave the following information about their invention titled “Innovative Laparoscopic Grasper”: “The present invention relates to a laparoscopic grasper; which enables to grasp the tissues or organs of the patient or take samples in laparoscopic surgical operations.”
Prof. Dr. İbrahim Akduman gave the following information about their invention titled “Internal Combustion Engine with a Rotating Piston and Uni-directional Rolling Bear”: “The present invention is related with an internal combustion engine which is used on any kind of vehicles –fundamentally and primarily on unmanned air vehicles, generators, compressors and pumps.”
Prof. Dr. Hakan Ali Çırpan gave the following information about their invention titled “Generalized Frequency Division Multiplexing Method with Multiple-Input Multiple-Output and Flexible Index Modulation”: “The invention is related to a generalized frequency division multiplexing method with multiple-input multiple-output and flexible index modulation, which enables to have the energy efficiency provided by space and frequency index modulation systems that have generalized frequency division multiplexing (GFDM) without complicating the transmitter and receiver structure.”
Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Kızıl gave the following information about their invention titled “Microfluidic System For Cancer Cell Separation, Capturing And Drug Screening Assays”: “The invention is related with a microfluidic system which enables sorting cancer cells flowing in a medium in the microchannel under applied electric field by means of dielectrophoresis owing to cells' different dielectric property. Sorted cells are captured at capturing stations by hydrodynamic forces and impedance measurements of the captured cells are recorded.”
Prof. Dr. Şerife Birgül Ersolmaz, gave the following information about their invention titled “Concurrent Desalination and Boron Removal Process”: “The present invention relates to a novel multistage membrane process technology that enables producing a potable water product from saline water feed at a high water recovery, reduced osmotic pressure differential and competitive net specific energy consumption (SECnet) while simultaneously reducing the boron concentration to the level recommended for both human consumption and crop irrigation.”
Prof. Dr. İbrahim Altunbaş gave the following information about their invention titled “Space-Time Channel Modulation Method”: “The invention is particularly related with space-time channel modulation method, which extends the classical space-time block codes into a new third dimension with the use of mapping of additional information bits to the indices of the available channel’s states obtained by the employment of RF mirrors.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mesut Kırca gave the following information about their invention titled “Modular Shock Absorber Structure”: “The invention is related to a modular shock absorber developed for use in places where shock absorption is required.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onur Ferhanoğlu gave the following information about their invention titled “High Resolution Prism Spectrometer Comprising A Diffuser Film”: “The invention is related to a prism spectrometer having higher resolution and wider spectral width by means of the speckle generating diffuser it comprises.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Altun gave the following information about their invention titled “Perfect Detection of Concurrent Faults in CMOS Circuits by Exploiting Reversible and Preservative Gates”: “The invention is related to a method of perfect detection of concurrent (online) faults, in CMOS circuits, using reversible and preservative gates. The faults occurring in CMOS circuits can be detected without being masked, by means of the said method.”
Asst. Prof. Dr. Gözde Göncü Berk gave the following information about their invention titled “Electronic Textile Based Rheumatoid Arthritis Therapy Glove”: “The invention relates to an electronic textile based rheumatoid arthritis therapy glove used for treating deformities caused by rheumatoid arthritis and treating chronic pain caused by rheumatoid arthritis in finger joints and wrist area.”
We congratulate our faculty members and their teams.
