ITU Academics Shared Their Experiences on “European University Model”
Our faculty members gave information about the EELISA European University Model to other universities at the “Erasmus+ Higher Education Area Central Projects Informative Meeting” held in Bursa on December 7-8.

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) leads other universities from our country that want to apply for EELISA (European Engineering Learning Innovation and Science Alliance), of which it is one of the founding partners. In this context, ITU academics shared their knowledge and experiences about the EELISA European University Model at the “Erasmus+ Higher Education Area Central Projects Informative Meeting” organized by the Center for EU Education and Youth under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 7-8 December at Bursa Uludağ University.
Erasmus+ Higher Education Area Central Projects Informative Meeting hosted three informative panels after the opening speeches made with the participation of Turkish National Agency. The panels informing the participants about Jean Monnet and Erasmus Mundus were followed by a panel titled “European Universities”.
At the European Universities panel, ITU EELISA coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emrah Acar and ITU EELISA-InnoCore coordinator Prof. Dr. Hür Bersam Bolat introduced the model. Our faculty members talked about the details of the process that has been going on for two years. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Acar and Prof. Dr. Bolat gave information to the participants about the procedures for application and admission to ITU’s European Universities program and shared their knowledge and experiences with university representatives from our country who want to apply to the European Universities program.
About EELISA European University
EELISA is an alliance of nine universities from seven European countries formed in 2020. EELISA aims to transform the European higher education area by creating a new and common model of “European engineer” to generate smart and sustainable engineering solutions to current societal challenges and to provide the necessary technical and social competencies for future engineers.
