ITU is Türkiye’s Leading University in its 250th Year
Istanbul Technical University (ITU) ranked 108th in “Engineering and Technology” area of QS World University Rankings by Subject, whereas it became the 1st in Türkiye in a total of ten different areas

2023 data for the world university rankings by subject determined by the world-renowned British education consultancy firm QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) has been announced. Achieving very successful results in the rankings, ITU ranked 108th in the world in “Engineering and Technology” area this year by improving its ranking since last year, in which it entered the list at the 142nd place. ITU became the leader in Türkiye in the same area.
ITU achieved a great success by ranking 45th in the “Petroleum Engineering” area of QS World Rankings. While ranking in the 51-70 range in the “Mining/Mineral Engineering” area, in the “Civil and Structural Engineering” area it entered the 51-100 range by making a big progress and found a place in the top 100. Istanbul Technical University achieved a great success by entering the 201-250 range in the field of “Computer Science and Information Systems”, which has attracted attention in recent years, the 101-150 range in the field of “Architecture/Built Environment (Architecture)” and the 101-150 range in the field of “Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering”.
The leader in Türkiye in 10 areas
ITU took the 1st place in Türkiye in a total of 10 areas of QS 2023 rankings by subject, including Engineering and Technology; Architecture and Built Environment; Chemical Engineering; Civil and Structural Engineering; Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering; Chemistry; Environmental Sciences; Materials Sciences; Earth and Marine Sciences; and Mining/Mineral Engineering.
ITU ranks first in engineering
ITU managed to enter the top 5% in the Engineering and Technology area in QS by moving up 34 places and achieved a great success by ranking 108th in the world rankings. It made a great progress by ranking 45th in the world in Petroleum Engineering area, in the 51-70 range in Mining/Mineral Engineering area, and in 51-100 range in Civil and Structural Engineering area and took place in the top 100.

QS World University Rankings by Subject
QS World University Rankings by Subject is the university rankings made by Quacquarelli Symonds company according to various academic criteria. Between 2004-2009 they worked jointly with Times Higher Education and they published THE–QS World University Rankings. QS also evaluates and ranks universities based on departments and faculties.
