Cooperation between ITU and Sabancı University
ITU has signed a protocol with Sabancı University covering various fields. The cooperation between the two universities covers various topics ranging from advanced vehicle technologies to product development.

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) initiated an important collaboration to join forces with Sabancı University and Sabancı Holding in its 250th year with the goal of redefining engineering to transform the future.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu met with Sabancı Holding Chair Güler Sabancı and Sabancı University President Prof. Dr. Yusuf Leblebici on April 27, 2023. At the meeting held at Sabancı University, domestic and international collaborations between the two universities, partnerships and developments planned for 1773 ITU Technopark and various research and application centers were discussed.
1773 ITU Technopark breakthrough
1773 ITU Technopark, which has just opened its doors with a fourth generation structure, will cooperate with Sabancı University. In this context, it is aimed to benefit from the J-START investment fund. In addition, ITU and Sabancı University will combine their strength and experience to establish a technopolis abroad.
From advanced vehicle technologies to product development
The newly established ITU Advanced Vehicle Technologies Research and Application Center (ILATAM) will cooperate with Sabancı Holding for productization in areas such as autonomous driving technologies. In addition, with the partnership of ILATAM, ITU Energy Institute, Enerjisa and Sabancı University, product development in the fields of range extending hydrogen-based electrolyser, PEM Fuel Cell and battery technologies has also come to the agenda.
ITU ILATAM aims to collaborate with Sabancı University’s Nanotechnology Research and Application Center (SUNUM) and Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Research and Application Center (SU-IMC) on a project basis.
Co-supervision for PhDs, EU projects and more
The cooperation protocol also includes the promotion of co-supervision for PhD students between Istanbul Technical University and Sabancı University, the establishment of a joint consultancy company in Brussels to apply for EU projects, and effective cooperation between the incubation centers of the two universities.
