Support from NATO to Our Faculty Member
The project, whose principal investigator is ITU Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tolga Görüm and total budget is 565 thousand Euros, was accepted and granted support by NATO.

In its 250th anniversary, Istanbul Technical University maintains its success in the international arena. The project, whose principal investigator is ITU Eurasia Earth Sciences Institute, Department of Solid Earth Sciences faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tolga Görüm and total budget is 565 thousand Euros, was accepted and granted support by NATO.
In the project titled “Post-earthquake Monitoring of Seismically-induced chains of Landslide Hazards (SHAKEN) for Protection of Critical Sites and Infrastructure”, long-term effects of the geomorphologic dynamics of landslides triggered by the February 6, 2023 earthquakes on residential areas and critical engineering structures will be examined for three years.
The project will be conducted by Istanbul Technical University with the cooperation of Istanbul Technical University, Middle East Technical University, AFAD, University of Twente, Massachusetts Institute of Technology: Lincoln Laboratory, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan from Türkiye, the Netherlands, the USA and Pakistan.
With this multi-disciplinary project, it is aimed to develop early warning systems through the integration of different remote sensing approaches with extreme atmospheric event forecasts using machine learning methods.
