ITU Continues Its Rise in Engineering and Natural Sciences
ITU rose to the 301-400 range in the fields of “Engineering and Technology”, “General Engineering”, and all engineering disciplines evaluated according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2024 results.

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) continued its rise with the results of the “World University Rankings by Subject 2024” announced by Times Higher Education (THE), one of the world’s prestigious academic rating agencies.
Remarkable rise in engineering and natural sciences
According to the 2024 results, ITU rose from the 401-500 range it was in last year to the 301-400 range in the fields of “Engineering and Technology”, “General Engineering”, “Chemical Engineering”, “Civil Engineering”, “Electrical and Electronic Engineering”, and “Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering”. Our university maintained its ranking in the 201-250 range in the field of “Computer Science” this year as well.
ITU advanced one step from the 801-1000 range it achieved last year to the 601-800 range in the fields of “Physical Sciences”, “Chemistry”, “Geology, Environmental, Earth and Marine Sciences”, “Physics and Astronomy”, and “Mathematics and Statistics”.
Our university maintained its position in the 501-600 range in the fields of “Arts and Humanities” and “Art, Performing Arts and Design”.
ITU ranked in the 501-600 range in the world in the field of “Architecture”.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu commented on the recently announced “THE World University Rankings by Subject 2024” results as follows:
“In its 250th year, Istanbul Technical University is on its way to making its worldwide academic success sustainable. The rankings we obtained in almost all fields in these ranking results is a proud achievement for all of us. Our university is redefining engineering with its vision of transforming the future. With its scientific publications, citations, research, industrial collaborations and education quality, ITU is in a prominent position in our country and in a great competition among world universities in the 100th anniversary of our Republic. The rankings we achieved in the latest results announced by Times Higher Education are proof of this. As ITU, we maintain our goal of being in the top 100 in academic rankings and we are working towards this goal.”
THE World University Rankings by Subject 2024
Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject evaluates research-oriented universities in terms of their missions of education, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. It presents a global evaluation result. The evaluation is respected by students, academics, university administrations, industry and governments.
The performance indicators, grouped into five areas, are: teaching (the learning environment), research (volume, income and reputation), citations (research influence), international outlook (staff, students and research), and industry income (knowledge transfer).
