“Green Technology” Award to ITU

ITU won the first prize in the “Green Technology” category within the scope of the Uniq Zone Patent Competition held at the MÜSİAD Visionary 2023 Summit.

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) continues to attract attention with its success in creating environment-friendly sustainable technologies.

At the MÜSİAD Visionary Summit, which is organized by the Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (MÜSİAD) every two years and aims to create trust-based business connections and sharing opportunities for sectoral experiences, “Uniq Zone Patent Competition,” organized in cooperation with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, also took place.

Istanbul Technical University won the first place in the university branch in the “Green Technology” category at the Uniq Zone Competition, which aims to draw attention to the importance of acting together in commercial activities and securing intellectual property rights through patents.

Our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Deniz, who represented our University at the ceremony held on November 4, 2023 as part of the summit, received the award from Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Industry and Technology.

Invention Title: Vertical Turbine with 360 Degree Moving Propellers

Invention Summary:

The invention is related to a vertical turbine with blades that can rotate 360 degrees for less exposure to the negative drag force. The efficiency is increased through turbine blades that can move mechanically thanks to the geneva wheel.
