ITU is in Samarkand for Uzbekistan-Türkiye Educational Forum
ITU took part in the 2nd Uzbekistan-Türkiye Educational Forum held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan on 13-14 November 2023. During the program, cooperation opportunities in education were discussed.

Istanbul Technical University continues to play an active role in international events that provide opportunities for collaborations to diversify educational opportunities. ITU took part in the 2nd Uzbekistan-Türkiye Educational Forum held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, hosted by Tashkent State Transport University on 13-14 November 2023.
“We are experienced in university-industry collaborations”
Our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu, who took part in the opening session of the program and underlined the productive results of university-industry cooperation, emphasized ITU’s experienced and well-equipped approach in industrial collaborations by saying, “Our projects aimed at development of innovative cube satellites along with ground stations, application of artificial intelligence-based methods in production, environmental research, and disasters, as well as projects related to the national technology move carried out with both public institutions and the private sector in the defense industry and military, most of which are carried out with the university-industry cooperation model, continue to progress.”
“We attach importance to international protocols between educational institutions”
In his speech, in which he drew attention to the importance of university-industry cooperation, as well as the benefits of international partnerships between educational institutions in terms of enriching educational opportunities, Prof. Dr. Koyuncu said the following:
“We have bilateral protocols with Tashkent State Technical University, Tashkent State Transport University and Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology. Our protocols include exchange of undergraduate and graduate students, exchange of faculty members and research assistants, as well as joint research activities and sharing of scientific material and information. I hope that we will increase our cooperation to even higher levels in the future.”
In the program, which was attended by Council of Higher Education President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, Turkish Ambassador to Uzbekistan Olgan Bekar, and Minister of Science, Education and Innovation of Uzbekistan Prof. Dr. Adil Abdurrahmanov, rectors and vice-rectors of approximately 100 universities from Türkiye and Uzbekistan participated.
