New Formula Vehicle from ITU Racing: IST24

The Launching of ITU Racing IST-24 was held at ITU Ayazağa Campus SDCC on July 12, 2024.

The formula student vehicle named IST-24, designed and developed by ITU Racing, one of the project teams of Istanbul Technical University, was introduced with a launch event held at ITU Ayazağa Campus, Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center.

At the opening of the event, our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu emphasized the need for projects that increase efficiency and reduce costs in the automotive industry, underlined that ITU has a dynamic educational environment that allows innovative ideas to emerge, and introduced IST-24 with the following words:

“Our vehicle, designed and produced by ITU Racing Team, is the product of an environmentally friendly technology approach that runs on electricity… At the same time, it attracts attention in terms of implementing techniques that have been tried for the first time in our country in many of its subsystems. In fact, these subsystems were developed separately as projects by our students and 15 of these projects were entitled to receive support within the scope of TÜBİTAK 2209-A. IST-24 is also of particular importance due to its battery management system, which is our project team’s own design.”

The event, in which the technical features of the IST-24, which is a first in our country with its split suspension system that facilitates performance optimization by separating the motion modes and is among the few vehicles in the world using this system, was shared with the participants, attracted great interest from the visitors.
