Istanbul Technical University (ITU) has been ranked among the top higher education institutions in Türkiye with the results of the URAP 2024-2025 Türkiye University Rankings, recently shared with the public by the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) research laboratory under the Informatics Institute of METU. Our university ranked 2nd among universities without a medical faculty in the URAP 2024-2025 Türkiye University Rankings.
When examining ITU's scores over the past three years within the scope of the URAP 2024-2025 Türkiye University Rankings, the "Citation" and "International Collaboration" scores showed a continuous increase during the 2023-2025 period. Our university also improved in the "Doctorate Score" and "Faculty Member/Student" categories compared to last year.
In its report announcing the results to the public, URAP stated that Turkish universities need to increase the number of publications and citations much faster to be among the world's leading universities. ITU ranked 783rd in the URAP 2023-2024 World Rankings, placing 2nd in our country with this result and being one of the 8 Turkish universities in the 601-800 range.
ITU is conducting various studies with the aim of increasing the number of articles in high-impact journals (Q1 and Q2). Our university established Türkiye's first and only Office of the Dean of Research in 2021 to develop the research ecosystem. Additionally, our Ranking Coordinatorship is conducting awareness-raising activities for our academics regarding high-impact articles. Online training sessions are being organized to involve our undergraduate students more in studies, especially those including TÜBİTAK projects. It is also believed that the recently established Big Data Office, and the Science and Engineering Communication Office with Society at our university will contribute to the production of higher quality articles.
