ITU Received the Sports-Friendly Campus Award

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) has been honored with the Sports-Friendly Campus Award. The award certificate was presented to ITU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Şenol Ataoğlu during a ceremony held at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University on May 14, 2025.

Following evaluations conducted by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, ITU was granted the Sports-Friendly Campus Award for its Ayazağa Campus. This award is a testament to Ayazağa Campus's successful fulfillment of the "Sports-Friendly Campus" standards.

The Sports-Friendly Campus Awards are determined through a rigorous evaluation based on 45 criteria, including "the university's sports vision and strategy," "participation in national and international sports events," "physical infrastructure," "activities supporting mental health and combating addiction," "accessibility for disabled and disadvantaged individuals," and "preservation of traditional sports and games.”A total of 83 universities applied for the awards with 98 campuses. After careful assessment and scoring, 48 campuses from 47 universities, including ITU, were granted the title of "Sports-Friendly Campus." This designation will remain valid for three years.

The winning universities were announced at the ceremony held on May 14, 2025, at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University.

The award certificate was presented to Prof. Dr. Şenol Ataoğlu, ITU Vice Rector by Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Osman Aşkın Bak, CoHE President, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the İlim Yayma Foundation, Bilal Erdoğan, and Rector of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Yılmaz.
