Held under the theme “Shaping the Future of STEM Education: Advancing Excellence through Transnational Collaboration,” the CESAER Annual Meetings 2025 took place on 22–24 October 2025 at Brno University of Technology, convened rectors, researchers, and policymakers from across Europe.
The CESAER Annual Meetings 2025 addressed the future of engineering education, innovation ecosystems, and the pivotal role of universities in Europe’s green and digital transitions.
During the meetings, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal contributed to discussions on how universities can respond to global challenges through science, technology, and innovation, and shared insights into the implementation of the CESAER 2030 Strategy.
Highlighting that ITU is the only member of CESAER from Türkiye, our Rector emphasized that ITU’s long-standing engagement within the CESAER network continues to strengthen its commitment to uniting science, engineering, and innovation around a shared vision. As an active member of the CESAER network, which brings together Europe’s leading universities of science and technology, Prof. Dr. Mandal reaffirmed ITU’s dedication to contributing to future-oriented education models, research ecosystems, and innovation culture. He also underscored the importance of evaluating how education, research, and innovation can be developed in a responsibility-driven, inclusive, and sustainable manner within the rapidly evolving global ecosystem, in collaboration with 54 member universities.
Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal’s participation in this significant event once again demonstrated our university’s strong commitment to scientific excellence, European collaboration, and sustainable innovation.
About CESAER
CESAER brings together Europe’s leading universities of science and technology and is dedicated to advancing excellence in higher education, research, and innovation. With more than 50 member universities today, CESAER plays a key role in shaping strategies and policies that drive Europe’s sustainable and knowledge-based future.
CESAER actively advocates for increasing the budget of the Horizon Europe programme, raising success rates, and ensuring that all projects assessed as excellent under the “Seal of Excellence” mechanism are supported through EU, national, and structural funds. It also strongly defends the preservation and scaling of researcher-led and field-agnostic programmes such as the ERC and MSCA to strengthen Europe’s global scientific leadership, while emphasizing the reduction of administrative burdens faced by researchers. Moreover, CESAER prioritizes the predictable and balanced scheduling of Horizon Europe calls and the creation of attractive career conditions for researchers and research managers.
