Prof. Dr. Celâl Şengör Has Been Elected as a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS)
Prof. Dr. Celâl Şengör, retired faculty member of the ITU Faculty of Mines, has been elected as a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), one of the world’s leading academies.

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), a leading research institution among the world's most prestigious, elected Prof. Dr. Celâl Şengör as a Foreign Member at the CAS General Assembly meeting on November 14, 2025. Prof. Dr. Şengör became the first Turkish scientist to be elected as a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The election of Prof. Dr. Şengör, a world-renowned scientist in the field of Earth Sciences for his works, to the Chinese Academy of Sciences once again reaffirmed the impactful position of our faculty member in the scientific world.
