Best Paper Award for ITU Researchers

The paper, jointly prepared by research assistants Hacer Duzman and E. Cenk Ersan, and Prof. Dr. M. Serdar Çelebi from the Informatics Institute Computational Science and Engineering Program at ITU, has been awarded the Best Paper Award at the European Simulation and Modelling Conference (ESM’25).

News: İTÜ Media and Communication Office

Organized by EUROSIS, the conference took place in Ghent, Belgium, from 22–24 October 2025, bringing together international researchers and experts in the fields of simulation, modeling, and computational engineering.

The paper titled “Non-Invasive Complete Hemodynamic Model to Investigate the Effect of Multi-Stenosis in Patient-Specific Coronary Arteries” presented at the conference was jointly prepared by research assistants Hacer Duzman and E. Cenk Ersan, and Prof. Dr. M. Serdar Çelebi from the Informatics Institute Computational Science and Engineering Program at ITU.

The study introduces a patient-specific, three-dimensional modeling approach that enables a more precise investigation of the hemodynamic effects of multi-stenosis in coronary arteries. By integrating the sinus of Valsalva with the right and left coronary arteries under physiologically realistic boundary conditions, the proposed framework overcomes the limitations of simplified models commonly used in the literature and provides clinically relevant insights. This comprehensive modeling approach enables significant contributions to a deeper understanding of the underlying mechanisms of coronary artery diseases and to improving the accuracy of diagnostic assessments.

We sincerely congratulate the authors Res. Asst. Hacer Duzman, Res. Asst. E. Cenk Ersan, and Prof. Dr. M. Serdar Çelebi for their achievement.
