At the “TESİD Innovation and Creativity Awards” organized by the Turkish Electronics Industrialists’ Association (TESİD) for the 21st time this year, ITU graduates Dr. Mohammadreza Babaei, Dr. Sedat Kılınç and Dr. Sercan Aygün were deemed worthy of the “Most Successful Application in University-Industry Cooperation in Doctoral Thesis” award. The awards were presented to their owners at the award ceremony held on September 14, 2023at the ISAF Fair organized at Istanbul Expo Center.
Dr. Mohammadreza Babaei, who completed his Ph.D. in ITU Faculty of Electrical and Electronics in the field of Informatics Applications, was awarded for his thesis titled “New RF energy harvesting models for next generation wireless communication systems”, which he wrote under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Lütfiye Durak Ata.
Dr. Sedat Kılınç, who completed his Ph.D. at ITU Faculty of Electrical and Electronics, was awarded for his valuable contribution to the field of electronics and communication engineering with his thesis titled “Design of a Broadband Microwave Power Amplifier via Performance Analysis of Nonlinear Active Elements and Virtual Gain Optimization”, which he prepared under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Serdar Özoğuz and Prof. Dr. Bekir Sıddık Binboğa Yarman.
Dr. Sercan Aygün from ITU Faculty of Electrical and Electronics was another award-winning graduate with his thesis titled “Stochastic bitstream-based vision and learning machines”, which he prepared under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ece Olcay Güneş. In June this year, Aygün won the “Best Paper Award” at the 33rd ACM Great Lakes Symposium held in the USA with his paper titled “Bit-stream processing with no bit-stream: Efficient software simulation of stochastic vision machines” and added a new achievement to his career with the TESİD Award.
We congratulate our graduates and wish them success in their studies.
