Creative Transformation in Educational Spaces Workshop

A workshop was organized at ITU Ayazağa Campus, Central Classroom A Building with the theme “Creative Transformation in Educational Spaces” on December 3, 2023.

A workshop was organized at ITU Ayazağa Campus within the scope of the social impact analysis of the interdisciplinary research project “Examining the contribution of university campuses to Sustainable Development Goals: the case of ITU Ayazağa Campus MED-A Building” led by Prof. Dr. Hatice Ayataç and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Göksenin İnalhan.

The workshop of the project, which aims to evaluate sustainable campus management not only with its environmental data but also with its social impacts, was held under the coordination of ITU Sustainability Office and facilitated by EKA Creative Studio, with the participation of academicians, students and administrative staff representatives, on December 3, 2023 on the ground floor of the Central Classroom A Building, Ayazağa Campus with the theme of “Creative Transformation in Educational Spaces” using the Post Occupancy Evaluation Method (POE).

Wide participation in the workshop

In the first session of the workshop organized after a survey conducted to determine the current situation of ITU members in the Central Classroom A Building, sub-groups worked on the three-dimensional model of the Central Classroom A Building by using application kits under the subheadings of users’ emotion analysis, satisfaction levels, user profile and circulation areas, and determination of potential usage areas.

In the second session, future predictions were obtained by placing visual cards on the model, which can create ideas for future use, including new function and purpose of use, equipment, interior orientations. The workshop was completed with short presentations by the working groups participating in the workshop. The boards, which are the outputs of the workshop, will be shared in the report to be prepared.

Sustainable development for university campuses

The workshop organized by the project coordinator Assoc. Prof. Börte Köse Mutlu and project researchers Prof. Dr. Hatice Ayataç, Assoc. Prof. Göksenin İnalhan, Res. Asst. A.Eymen Karabulut was attended by students, academics and administrative staff from different faculties of the University with interest. With its written and printed outputs before, during and after this planned event, it will guide the creative transformation of educational spaces in line with Sustainable Development Goals for both our university and other university campuses in our country.
