The Learning Station entitled “3D Printers: Production Principles, Usage and Business Model Development” at ITU Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) was completed on Saturday, May 25.

With the microcredential training held in five sessions, ITU students had a learning experience that included the presentation of samples produced with 3D, in-class trainings supplemented by different forms of transmission such as animations and visuals, field trips, and speeches by experts in the field.

Our students who completed this 30-hour training targeted at undergraduate and master’s level were entitled to add 1 ECTS worth of extracurricular activity (microcredit) to their diploma supplements as a result of the overall success evaluation.

Two separate field trips were made to the companies Zaxe and Başaran Technology to examine the production principles, working principles and production processes of 3D Printers on site. Students had the opportunity to observe the working systems and principles of the printers more closely during the field trips.

As part of the training, two guest speakers attended the Learning Station. Alper Tokkuş talked about the use and development areas of 3D printers in Türkiye and the world, and the factors that support and limit their widespread use, by supporting them with visuals and samples. The second guest speaker, Res. Asst. Oğuz Yücel from ITU Department of Management Engineering, presented the conceptual framework of the “Business Model Canvas” to the students as a business model development method through its use in different sectors with various examples.
