Launch of the Guide for the Management of Debris Waste
“Launch of the Guide for the Management of Debris Waste Resulting from Urban Transformation, Earthquakes and Possible Disasters”, hosted by ITU and organized by BCSD Türkiye on 12 June 2024, welcomed visitors at ITU Ayazağa Campus SDCC.

“Launch of the Guide for the Management of Debris Waste Resulting from Urban Transformation, Earthquakes and Possible Disasters”, hosted by Istanbul Technical University and organized by Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSD Türkiye), took place on 12 June 2024 at ITU Ayazağa Campus Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center.
At the opening of the program, our Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu emphasized ITU’s goals towards contributing to Türkiye’s capabilities in combating disasters and said the following:
“Especially during the February 6 Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes, our scientific report prepared by our expert academics, based on observations made at the disaster area, was seen as a worldwide reference work. Likewise, another project that made an impact in combating earthquakes is MATAM, which we announced at the beginning of this year and will be opened in the coming periods… Our Marmara Active Fault Hazard and Risk Application and Research Center will provide great services to our country as a center where technology is used intensively.”
At the meeting held for the introduction of the “Guide for the Management of Debris Waste Resulting from Urban Transformation, Earthquakes and Possible Disasters”, which has a rich content on various topics ranging from the economic potential of debris waste to recycling practices and sustainability, there were presentations and speeches made by leading officials of the sector.
