ITU Once Again Tops the Most Influential Scientists List with the Most Scientists from Türkiye

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) has once again become the university with the most academics from Türkiye in both categories of the 2024 list of the world's most influential scientists: "Career-Long Impact" and "Annual Impact."

With its "Research University Focused on Responsibility and Impact" vision, ITU continues to achieve academic successes on a global scale that reflect its scientific productivity and interdisciplinary research culture. According to the 2024 results of the world's most influential scientists list, prepared by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier, ITU ranked 1st in Türkiye in both the "Career-Long Impact" and "Annual Impact" categories based on the number of its scientists.

A total of 64 academics from ITU were included in the "Annual Impact" category. According to their field rankings, 2 ITU academics were listed in the world's top 100, 19 in the top 500, and 33 in the top 1,000 in the "Annual Impact" ranking.

The number of scientists from ITU in the "Career-Long Impact" category increased compared to last year. A total of 80 ITU academics were included in the "Career-Long Impact" category. According to their field rankings, 4 ITU academics were listed in the world's top 100, 20 in the top 500, and 38 in the top 1,000 in the "Career-Long Impact" list.

ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal was also included among the world's most influential scientists in the "Career-Long Impact" category.

The impactful scientific work at ITU was reflected not only in the most influential scientists ranking but also in other international ranking results.

Istanbul Technical University (ITU):

• became the most successful university in Türkiye in the prestigious 2025 Nature Index Research Leaders Ranking, which measures scientific publication performance.
• ranked first in Türkiye in 20 fields and rose in 12 fields compared to the previous year in the University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) 2024-2025 World Field Rankings.
• placed 76th in the world in the Times Higher Education (THE) Interdisciplinary Science Rankings (ISR).
